A magnificent signed 19th century, three quarter sized, finely cast iron statue of a woman holding a torch aloft, most probably “Libertaire,” leaning on a wreath-decorated newel post.
Wonderful rusty black surface. The base of the statue is missing a 1.5" high X 11" long piece where it was signed. The remainder of the base has a partially present foundry mark, reading "...rges, Paris" that corresponds to the "A. Durenne Forges, Paris" mark. Lady Liberty can be displayed as a statue, used as a torchiere or plumbed to be a fountain. It is 69.5 “ high, 17 “ wide, and 15 “ in depth. $39,000 |
